CONSULTANTS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

How can I refer someone for a macular screening?

Download the patient referral form, complete the required sections and fax or send it to AED Ltd, the patient will then be contacted by AED Ltd to arrange an appointment for the tests to be done.

How will I receive the results?

Following your patients appointment the results will be examined be a consultant and they will give an opinion. This will be sent back to you by post along with the copies of the images taken that give the best information to help with the diagnosis and opinion.

Will I understand the results?

The images produced by the OCT are similar to the cross sectional diagrams you will see in text books about the structure of the retina. With careful examination those who are familiar with the structure will be able to pick out the various layers of the retina. Using that along side the opinion that will be given and with a little practice you will be able to determine what is happening in the eye being examined. The opinion given will also indicate the most appropriate action that should be taken and even if the images are not completed understood you will have a good idea of what advice you should give.
